Couple accused of property fraud of Rs 12 lakh

A couple was charged yesterday by the Salem Tabri police with perpetrating a Rs 12 lakh property scam. They had neglected to complete the property registration form after receiving the advance money.

The accused, who live in the Jalandhar bypass region, are named as Baldev Raj and his wife Charanjit Kaur.

Raj Kumar, a complainant from New Chandar Nagar, said that he had an agreement with the two people to purchase land from them and that they had also been offered Rs 12 lakh. They would always make phony promises when he asked them to repay his money. In addition, they threatened to commit suicide if he made them return the money.
