Delhi: A fire breaks out at a sofa factory in Mayapuri, injuring 9 people, including policemen

Early on Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at a factory in west Delhi’s Mayapuri neighborhood. Two police officers and seven bystanders were hurt putting out the fire, according to authorities. According to authorities, a call reporting a fire at a two-story couch manufacturer at the market notorious for trading in junk was received around 2.05 am. Five firefighters who were brought to the scene put out the fire, according to them.

The couch springs’ shipping box had been the source of the fire. According to a fire official, a drum of glue stored on the ground level also ruptured during the incident. Seven males were sent to the DDU hospital after suffering minor burn injuries.

Rakesh, 35, Ram Niwas, 60, Santosh, 27, Harichand, 35, Vikrant, 25, Kishan, 23, and Inderjeet, 33 were among the wounded. According to fire authorities, the incident also resulted in burn injuries for head constables Randhir Singh and Vikrant. The factory in Mayapuri Phase II allegedly traded in iron springs, which are used to construct couches.

To look into the fire, a crime squad was sent to the scene. According to the authorities, a case has been filed at the Mayapuri authorities Station.
