Dera Chief’s month-long parole expires and he is sent back to Sunaria prison in Haryana

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the leader of Dera Sacha Sauda, returned to Rohtak’s Sunaria prison on Sunday after his month-long parole expired.

Singh visited the Sunaria prison in the late afternoon, according to a police source from Rohtak.

The sect leader went to the Dera Sacha Sauda Ashram, Barnawa, in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district after receiving parole last month.

Singh left the Sunaria prison in the Rohtak district of Haryana a month before after being given a 30-day release for the second time this year.

On August 15, Singh turned 56.

The cult leader, who is based in Sirsa, is now incarcerated for 20 years for raping two of his followers.

The Dera leader had already been given a 40-day parole in January. Additionally, he was given a 40-day parole in October of last year.

He was released from jail on a month-long parole in June of last year, which was followed by his parole in October. He also received a three-week leave of absence beginning on February 7, 2022.

The Dera chairman was also found guilty in 2021 of conspiring to murder Ranjit Singh, a manager for the organization, along with four other people. For the murder of a journalist more than 16 years ago, the Dera leader and three other individuals were found guilty in 2019.
