Bhopal Lok Sabha Election 2024: Bhopal is a Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha constituency. There are 29 legislative seats in the state. The eight Assembly segments that make up the Bhopal seat are Govindpura, Huzur, Sehore, Bhopal Madhya, Bhopal Uttar, Narela, and Berasia. The constituency is open to all candidates and is not exclusive to members of Scheduled Tribes or Castes (SCs or STs). The two major political parties in the constituency are the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sushil Chandra Verma of the BJP served as the constituency’s representative four times, in 1989, 1991, 1996, and 1998. Uma Bharti, a former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, also won the seat once in 1999. The BJP has never lost an election in this seat since 1989, making it a bastion in politics.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the Bhopal seat had 21,42,861 voters, according to figures from the Election Commission. 10,20,924 of these voters were female, while 11,21,754 of them were male. A total of 183 voters identified as third gender. 1,718 ballots in the constituency were cast by mail. In Bhopal, there were 1,773 service voters in 2019 (1,662 males and 111 women).

With a margin of 3,64,822 votes, BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur won the seat for the first time in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. With 8,66,482 ballots cast, she had a 61.51% vote share. Digvijaya Singh, a former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and prominent Congress politician, was beaten by her, receiving 5,01,660 votes (35.61%). 14,07,954 legitimate votes were cast in total.

Alok Sanjar, a BJP contender, won the seat for the first time in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. With 7,14,178 votes cast, he had a 63.19% vote share. PC Sharma, a candidate for the Congress, finished second with 3,43,482 votes (30.39%). Sharma lost to Sanjar by a total of 3,70,696 votes. 11,30,182 valid votes were cast in this constituency overall. Rachna Dhingra, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate, received 21,298 votes (1.88%) to finish third.
