Former Rajasthani Government Official One Of 4 Arrested In Bribery Case

Four persons, including the previous chairman of the state Ghumantu Jati Kalyan Board, have been detained by the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking a bribe of Rs 18.50 lakh, according to authorities.

Gopal Kesawat, the previous chairman of the Board, and three other people — Anil Kumar, Brahmprakash, and Ravinder Sharma — allegedly requested a payment of Rs 40 lakh from the complainant, according to Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Hemant Priydarshi.

The payment was required in exchange for the Rajasthan Public Service Commission’s (RPSC) executive officer test to be passed.

Officials said that once the accusations were verified, it was discovered that the accused had requested Rs 25 lakh.

On July 14, according to the ACB, Anil and Brahmprakash were apprehended in Sikar while collecting a bribe of Rs 18.50 lakh, while Ravindra Sharma was detained while accepting a payment of Rs 7.50 lakh (from 18.50 lakh), they said.

On Saturday, Kesawat was detained in Jaipur while receiving Rs 7.50 lakh. He had inquired of the complainant if he was connected to two RPSC officials, but the ADG noted that no official or member of the RPSC had yet been implicated in the original inquiry.

Kesawat served as a leader in the Congress. He was kicked out of the party in November 2018 for running as a renegade candidate in the Assembly elections.
