Four Are Being Held for the Barnala Murder of a Punjab Policeman

According to Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, four persons have been detained in connection with the suspected murder of a police chief constable in Barnala.

After a short altercation during which one of the accused was hurt, they were both taken into custody by Barnala police. They had a firearm and two live rounds taken from them, according to Yadav.

On Sunday night, Darshan Singh, a chief constable with the Punjab Police, was slain after being assaulted by the guys at a restaurant where he had gone to settle a disagreement about bill payment.

After a short confrontation in which one of the suspects was wounded, “@BarnalaPolice has apprehended all 4 suspects implicated in the murder of HC (Head constable) Darshan Singh. One handgun and two live rounds have been found on the suspect, according to DGP Yadav’s post on X.

“Punjab Police has arrested all perpetrators in less than 24 hours,” he said.

According to early reports from authorities, the event happened as a result of a fight that broke out between the four accused and the restaurant’s owner.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Malik told reporters in Barnala that the restaurant owner phoned the police because the accused were fighting about paying the bill.

“They were adamant and very aggressive,” Malik claimed, adding that when the police team arrived and attempted to settle the situation, the accused reportedly assaulted them.

According to the SSP, Head Constable Darshan Singh, a member of the police squad, suffered a critical head injury before being transported to Barnala Civil Hospital, where he passed away from his wounds.

According to the SSP, the suspects were Paramjit Singh, alias Pamma, Gurmeet Singh, Wazir Singh, and Jugraj Singh, and they all fled the scene of the crime.

“All the accused are notorious elements and criminal-minded,” Malik said.

On Monday night, a police check barrier was put up underneath the Dhanaula police station in Barnala, and when a vehicle was signaled to halt, the suspect attempted to strike the officers in an effort to flee. The SSP said that as the car lost control, Paramjit reportedly started shooting at the police.

After a short confrontation, the gang was taken into custody. He said that Paramjit had a leg injury.

In response to a query, Malik said that the government and the whole police force support the victim’s family.

“Darshan Singh always carried out his task honestly and with dedication. He was a man of the highest integrity, the SSP said.
