Hamirpur’s children’s park being turned into a landfill by officials’ indifference

Even with frequent education efforts on cleanliness, the town’s most popular kids’ park has essentially become a landfill. The Deputy Commissioner’s house in the town’s Hira Nagar community is 150 yards from the park created by the Forest Department.

It contains a two-kilometer walking route in addition to other amenities, including kid-friendly workout equipment and swings. The park has been developed with a circular platform, a cement path, and a planting of decorative and herbal plants, all thanks to the Forest Department’s investment of Rs 50 lakh. Additionally, the department created a “Navgrah Vatica” with flora that had religious significance in addition to two grass lawns.

Every day, people of all ages, including young people and the elderly, visit the park. Unfortunately, due to inadequate upkeep, the park’s surroundings are foul-smelling and dirty.

Additionally, the park has developed into a haven for drunks, as seen by the empty wine and beer bottles that are strewn across the walking routes.

Town resident Rakesh Sharma said that college students were mostly responsible for the most of the trash in the park. They don’t bother to put trash in the dustbins, he continued.
