Haryana Congress leader Surjewala said, “Listen to full video; it’s edited by BJP’s IT Cell.” Surjewala made the comments about Hema Malini

After receiving criticism from the saffron party for what they perceived to be an offensive remark directed against the actor-politician Hema Malini, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala explained on Thursday that he never meant to offend or cause harm to the BJP MP.

Following the release of an undated video on X by Amit Malviya, the chairman of the BJP’s IT department, Surjewala provided an explanation, accusing the Congress MP of making offensive comments against Hema Malini.

“Congress MP Randeep Surjewala makes an egregious, sexist remark that is disparaging and degrading not just to the accomplished Hema Malini but also to women in general. “Why do we make MLA?” he queries. in order for them to speak out and have our opinions acknowledged. Is Hema Malini someone who is meant to be licked? Who considers women to be objects to be licked? That is the most repulsive description that can be thought of. Rahul Gandhi’s Congress, and just yesterday, Surjewala’s colleague was inquiring about the ‘rate’ of another female BJP politician. It despises women and is sexist.” Malviya left an X post.

In reference to this, Surjewala said that the BJP leader’s video had been altered, twisted, and circulated in an attempt to divert attention away from the anti-poor, anti-youth, and anti-farmer policies of the Modi administration, as well as its plot to overthrow the Indian Constitution.

“BJP’s IT Cell has developed a habit of editing, distorting and spreading fake news so that it can distract the country from the Modi government’s anti-youth, anti-farmer, anti-poor policies and failures and its conspiracy to destroy the Constitution of India,” he said.

The Congress leader said, “Listen to the entire video. We also respect Hema Malini because she is our daughter-in-law and is married to Dharmendra ji.”

Attacking the BJP-led national government, Surjewala said, “The anti-women puppets of the BJP were told to remove this video, but they never questioned the Prime Minister on why he – Why did the Himachal report say, “Girlfriend worth Rs 50 crores”? Why was the name “Shurpanakha” given to a female MP in the Parliament? Why was a female CM being trolled in such an offensive way? Should I say “Congress’s widow” instead? Can the top congressional leadership be referred to as a “Jersey cow”? All I said was that in public life, everyone—including Khattar Ji, Nayab Saini Ji, and me—should answer to the people. Everyone’s success or failure is determined by their effort; the public has the last say and must use judgment while making decisions.”

“I didn’t want to upset anybody or offend Hema Malini ji. For this reason, I made it quite apparent that Hema Malini ji is our daughter-in-law and that we respect her. The Congress spokesperson said that since the BJP is inherently anti-women, it interprets everything through an anti-women’s prism and propagates false information when it suits it.
