Himachal Pradesh crisis: Police file a complaint against the father of a Congress renegade and an independent MLA for “electoral offences.”

On Sunday, the Himachal Pradesh Police filed a complaint against the father of a Congress dissident and an independent MLA for “electoral offenses” connected to the recent Rajya Sabha elections, in which six party MLAs supported the state’s BJP nominee.

The complaint filed by Congress MLAs Sanjay Awasthi and Bhuvneshwar Gaur led to the registration of a case against Ashish Sharma, the independent MLA of Hamirpur, and the father of Gagret’s now-disqualified MLA, Chetanya Sharma.

In addition to the six MLAs who cast dissenting votes, three independent lawmakers also supported BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan.

The state’s Congress administration, which seemed to have lost its majority in the assembly, was thrown into disarray as a result.
