“Hindi Is Our National Language,” Nitish Kumar sulks during the India Bloc meeting over a request for a translation

Chief Minister of Bihar and key member of the INDIA bloc Nitish Kumar is rumored to have lost his temper during an alliance meeting last night when representatives of the southern ally DMK requested a translation of his speech, which was given in Hindi. This comes as parties in the bloc are attempting to unite in order to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Senior politician of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), TR Baalu, allegedly could not understand the Bihar Chief Minister’s address and gestured to Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Manoj K Jha for a translation.

The chief minister of Bihar lost his cool and said, “We call our country Hindustan, and Hindi is our national language,” in response to Jha asking Nitish Kumar for permission to assist Baalu. We ought to be able to communicate in the language.

After requesting that Manoj Jha refrain from translating, Kumar continued by saying that Indians should reject the colonial hangover since British people had been expelled from India long ago.

Baalu joined Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) conference in Delhi on Tuesday.

For their fourth meeting, the INDIA bloc parties got together in Delhi on Tuesday to discuss issues including seat-sharing and campaign tactics for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Those who attended the meeting said that Nitish Kumar seemed “uncomfortable and angry at something” throughout it.

Despite JD(U) members’ demands that Nitish be appointed the alliance’s prime minister, the chief minister of Bihar said at the meeting that he is not looking for a position, “even though some people are spreading such canards.”
