Kapil Sibal, a Rajya Sabha member, took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday over the introduction of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, claiming that he neglected craftspeople for ten years before remembering them shortly before 2024.

A day after Modi announced the Rs 13,000 crore PM Vishwakarma Yojana for traditional artisans and craftspeople, Sibal attacked the PM.

“Vishwakarma Scheme: Hindu Mythology: Vishwakarma was divine carpenter and master craftsman of Gods’ weapons,” Sibal said in a post on X.Far from being heavenly, Modi is a superb politician.

Sibal, who served as a Union minister during the UPA 1 and 2 administrations, left the Congress in May of last year and received support from the Samajwadi Party to be elected to the Rajya Sabha as an independent.

For acknowledgment, craftsmen and craftspeople will get a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card, as well as loan assistance up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a special interest rate of 5%.
