Improve medical facilities at the orphanage in Sujanpur: NHRC

Balkrishan Goel, a Special Monitor of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), gave the Welfare Department instructions today to upgrade the amenities provided to the prisoners of the Bal Ashram in the district of Sujanpur. In order to guarantee the welfare of the prisoners, he suggested that officials from the Women and Child Development Department pay frequent visits to the orphanage.

Goel examined the dining area as well as the medical, recreational, and public spaces. He remarked that in order to help the prisoners maintain their physical fitness, the orphanage’s administration authorities have to upgrade the facilities for sports.

Yesterday, during his visit to the prison on the outskirts of town, he gave Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. RK Agnihotri instructions to promptly assemble a health team for routine visits to the jail.

According to the CMO, routine health team visits would assist in monitoring suicide thoughts and treating medical conditions that may be affecting the prisoners. He continued by saying that the prison inmates might avoid psychological and physical confrontations by following the guidance of the NHRC.
