In Mumbai electoral rally, SS (UBT) MP uses a scene from a movie to make fun of Maha CM and his son

Mumbai on May 9. Popular movie lines entered the electoral scene to humiliate political opponents and amuse the crowds, which made the already raucous Lok Sabha campaign a little more nasty.

While campaigning in Ghatkopar for Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Sanjay D. Patil in the Mumbai North East Lok Sabha, party Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi unleashed a vicious assault on rival Shiv Sena nominee Naresh Mhaske, the former mayor of Thane.

She once attacked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his son Shrikant Shinde, who is running for state legislature a record three times from the nearby Kalyan LS constituency in the Thane district.

“Who are you? Eknath Shinde… How are you doing? Shinde Eknath? You are only a “gaddar” (traitor),” Chaturvedi said, reminding the populace of the June 2022 Shiv Sena split (which remained intact).

The Maha Vikas Aghadi administration, headed by the then chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, was overthrown by an extraordinary popular uprising, and Shinde joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the “CM gaddi.”

As in the line from the movie “Deewar,” Chaturvedi said, “No matter what you do, you cannot escape that ‘gaddar’ taint” and it would haunt even your family to attack the governing MahaYuti coalition.

She brought up the well-known exchange between Amitabh Bachchan and his brother Shashi Kapoor, in which the actor described how some thugs had tattooed “Mera Baap Chor Hai” on his left arm.

To tremendous acclaim, Chaturvedi said, “In a similar fashion, the CM’s son, Shrikant Shinde, will carry the burden, that ‘Mera Baap Gaddar Hain’ and cannot escape the consequences.”

At the combined INDIA-MVA bloc event, she said that the MVA is on the verge of a massive triumph across Maharashtra, waging a “peoples fight versus ruling MahaJhoothi alliance.”

Interestingly, the MahaYuti-BJP recently dismissed its current MP, Manoj K. Kotak, due to negative reports. Patil, an ex-MP, is now up against Mihir C. Kotecha.
