In Odisha, a car crash into a roadside tree results in three deaths and one injury

In the Nabarangpur district of Odisha, a vehicle carrying at least three people smashed into a roadside tree, leaving one lady with significant injuries, according to authorities.

They were travelling home from a wedding in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, when the event happened on Thursday night close to Basini intersection on Umerkote-Jharigram Road.

Suresh Mondal of Chatabeda Village in Raigarh, Gauranga Ray of Sonepur Village, and Satya Ranjan Bepari of Umerkote have been named as the dead.

The severely wounded lady, Swaralata Bepari, was first checked at a neighbourhood hospital before being sent to the hospital for Nabarangpur district headquarters.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed sorrow over the deaths and made an ex-gratia announcement of Rs 3 lakh for each of the deceased’s nearest of kin. He also instructed the authorities to guarantee the wounded person’s access to free medical care.
