In Solan district, 20 centenarians will cast ballots

In an effort to guarantee the participation of 20 centenarian voters in the election, the district administration is preparing to assist those living in the four Assembly divisions of the Solan district.

Manmohan Sharma, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer for Solan, said that voters who are over 100 years old serve as an encouragement to everybody.

The older voters’ engagement in the previous elections was commendable, Sharma said, especially at a time when many people avoid voting and fail to fulfill their political responsibility.

With seven, the Nalagarh Assembly segment has the most centenarians. These are the following: 101-year-old Amar Dei from Panjahara, 101-year-old Devi Chand from Baglehar, 101-year-old Lilavati from Datowal, 104-year-old Kartar Kaur from Dabhota, and 104-year-old Sharif Khan from Ratayor booth. The oldest among them is 100 years old, Ganga Dei from Kundlu Booth.

He went on to say that the Arki Assembly segment had four centenarian voters. They are Draupadi Devi (100) from Namhole, Kundu Ram (102) from Vikrampur, Gunputhu (101) from Samlech booth, and Radha Ram (101) from Paanjheli.

Interestingly, all three of the centenarians in the Doon Assembly constituency are 104 years old. They are Puran Dei from Malpur, Gur Dei from Kalambawala, and Bhagti from Bhagbanalaya Boot.

Three voters—Shiv Ram (100) from Kalhog booth, Dalia (105) from Basha, and Meena Devi (101) from Kotla—are 100 years old and are running for the Solan Assembly seat.

Three centenarian voters are preparing to cast ballots in the Kasauli Assembly seat: Rattan Singh of Barag, BR Kapoor of Baroti, and Charanjit Singh of Baroti.

Wheelchairs and other forms of mobility are made available to senior voters to make voting easier. They are offered two ways to cast their ballots: using a mail-in ballot or going to the polls, where elderly voters are tended to by volunteers as soon as they arrive. Election personnel are making personal contact with these voters in order to guarantee their participation in the next elections and to provide them with the necessary facilities based on their needs.
