INDIA group running in ideological election; after polling, Rahul Gandhi is selected as the prime minister candidate

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, said on Friday that forces attempting to undermine democracy and the Constitution are up against those defending them in the Lok Sabha elections.

Gandhi said at the introduction of the Congress manifesto that the election was more closer than the media had suggested and that he was confident in winning the elections.

In response to a query after the party manifesto’s publication for the Lok Sabha elections, he said that the concept of “India Shining” is being promoted similarly to how it was in 2004.

He stated, “Do remember who won that campaign,” alluding to the 2004 Lok Sabha elections and the BJP-led NDA’s vigorous “India Shining” campaign.

The UPA administration took office after the BJP lost the election.

Gandhi said that the INDIA group has determined that it is engaged in an ideological contest and that the choice of the prime minister candidate would be made after the results of the elections.

On April 19, the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will take place.

On Friday, April 5, 2024, in New Delhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addresses the media after the party’s manifesto announcement in advance of the Lok Sabha elections.
Congress publishes the “Nyay Patra” manifesto: Put unemployment and the caste census first.
The Congress promised in its platform to adopt a constitutional amendment raising the 50% ceiling on reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs, as well as to secure the right to apprenticeship and MSP.

‘Nyay Patra’, the party’s manifesto, was unveiled at the AICC headquarters with former chairman of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, present.

It was centered on 25 assurances that fell under five “pillars of justice.”

The opposition party pledged to appoint candidates to around thirty lakh authorized positions at different levels under the national government.

The party also declared that, should it win power, it will impose a ten percent quota on employment, open schools to all castes and economically disadvantaged sections (EWS), and communities free from discrimination.
