IndiGo Flight Postponed by Three Hours Following Pilot’s Learning of Grandmother’s Passage

Unfavorable weather and thick fog have caused delays on a number of aircraft, including IndiGo Airlines. An IndiGo aircraft that was supposed to carry 162 people to Pune had a three-hour delay at the Patna airport. The pilot, who was about to board the aircraft, was informed of his grandmother’s untimely death, which resulted in an unforeseen delay. Recognizing the pilot’s emotional condition, he informed airline personnel that he was not psychologically fit to fly the aircraft. IndiGo responded by quickly returning the aircraft to the parking space so that other flights could continue. Later, an aircraft from Delhi was scheduled to take over, allowing the aircraft that had been delayed to continue its voyage.

The airline staff acknowledged to Times Now that “the first officer had received information of the grandmother’s sudden demise.” Following receipt of the information, IndiGo scheduled a replacement crew for this flight. In addition, refreshments were provided to the passengers.

According to reports, the pilot of IndiGo aircraft 6E-126 was ready for departure after taxying out of the parking lot. But when the pilot refused to take off after learning of his grandmother’s passing, the airline quickly found a replacement crew for the same trip. After all, the IndiGo aircraft to Pune was supposed to take departure at 4:41 PM from Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna at 1:25 PM.

A passenger on the postponed flight voiced their displeasure and criticized IndiGo for the difficulty the delay had created. “Very unprofessional approach by Indigo as it has delayed flight 6e126 and informed that the pilot is not available,” the X user commented. All of this was completed following the boarding process. After boarding at 1300 hours, the aircraft is scheduled to depart Patna for Pune at 1630 hours.

The airline acknowledged the guests’ discomfort as soon as possible, citing “operational reasons.”

In another occurrence, an IndiGo aircraft that was scheduled to take off on January 14 from Goa and go to Delhi had lengthy delays and finally touched down in Mumbai on January 15. Angry travelers made the decision to relax and eat while sitting on the tarmac next to the plane. The lengthy wait was made worse when, perhaps as a result of the protracted delay, a passenger allegedly attacked the captain.
