The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare made the decision to establish AIIMS in a number of states in order to address regional disparities in the accessibility to reasonably priced postsecondary healthcare services and to expand the nation’s capacity for high-quality medical education.

For the purpose of establishing AIIMS, the state government has set aside 200 acres in Manethi village, Rewari district. The land was to be leased by the gram panchayat for this reason. The application was not approved by the Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Changes due to the discovery that the site was located in the Aravalli plantation region.
