Joshi criticizes AICC President Kharge for his criticism of Prime Minister Modi

AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has come under fire from Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi for his remark that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indulging in “opium-induced sleep” in response to Chinese PLA incursions in Ladakh. He subtly attacked the head of the Congress party by bringing up the name of Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation’s first prime minister.

Joshi stated that the Congress leader should be mindful of language when criticizing someone in a rush, especially when speaking about the nation’s prime minister, and he warned Kharge about the language he was using against the most popular and democratically elected prime minister.

The BJP politician responded sharply to Kharge’s statement, saying, “I don’t want to use such filthy language towards the AICC chief.” Kharge, the national head of the so-called Grand Old Party, ought to be aware of the terminology he uses, given that Modi is the country’s elected and well-liked prime leader.

Joshi said, “I will ask who had consumed opium when 34,000 sq km of land was grabbed by China in 1962,” subtly attacking Nehru and the Congress.

The minister said, “With all confidence, we are saying that our government has not allowed China to enter Indian territory,” in support of the Modi administration’s actions. Nobody has taken even a single inch of land. The prime minister firmly rejects the use of such deplorable rhetoric against him, even in the face of tough measures, he said.

Joshi mocked senior Congressman Chidambaram’s claim that the BJP was dismantling regional parties, saying that what is happening is that the BJP is being strengthened rather than any regional parties being destroyed. Each party has an obligation to bolster the BJP’s accountability. Chidambaram cannot reasonably expect the BJP to fortify the DMK. How fair is it to accuse the saffron party when any party weakens? he shot back.
