Karnataka CM: “Will Probe All Scams, Abnormalities During Previous BJP Regime”

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah promised on Tuesday that his administration will look into any suspected frauds and irregularities from the previous BJP administration and punish those responsible.

He stated that although the government would keep all of its election-related promises, carrying out Congress’ five pledges will cost the exchequer Rs 59,000 crore annually and place a somewhat heavier load on the administration this year.

“Scams will be looked into. We will have it probed. Four medical colleges were built, and there have been suspicions of violations.

Additionally, the charges of a 40% commission will be looked into. The COVID-19 era saw abnormalities in health-related procurements, as well as in irrigation project-related irregularities and Bitcoin frauds, all of which would be investigated, according to Siddaramaiah.

Speaking to media at this location, he said that the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) recruiting fraud is now being investigated by the CID, would be further intensified, and those responsible will be punished.

He said that “the former Health Minister K Sudhakar had declared just two had died, although the deaths were greater, owing to scarcity of oxygen delivery. Deaths occurred in Chamarajanagara hospital, purportedly due to limitation of oxygen supply during COVID, would also be investigated. He was lying. We’ll enquire about it.

The Chief Minister slammed opposition parties for criticizing the government’s implementation of poll guarantees, noting that one guarantee has already been implemented, providing free rides for women on public transportation buses; from July 1, up to 200 units of free electricity will be provided to households under the “Gruha Jyothi” scheme; and after August 15, the “Gruha Lakshmi” scheme, which will provide Rs 2,000 to women who are the head of their families, will be implemented.

He stated that the “Anna Bhagya” program, which aims to give an additional 5 kg of rice to every member of a BPL household, requires 2,29,000 metric tonnes of rice each month, which is in short supply. Additionally, the central government has “conspired” to prevent the state government from receiving the rice from Food Corporation of India (FCI), which had initially agreed to supply it because they have stocks, as they have stocks.

“The BJP administration at the Center has targeted the state’s poor, BJP meaning anti-poor, by ensuring that FCI doesn’t deliver grains to the state. We have called for quotes and are now in discussions to obtain rice via other organizations including NCCF, NAFED, and Kendriya Bhandar. Due to a shortage of rice from producing states, the Cabinet will consider the situation tomorrow and make a decision.

The program will be implemented as soon as rice becomes available.

The CM stated that the “YuvaNidhi” program, which provides unemployed graduates with Rs 3,000 per month and unemployed diploma holders with Rs 1,500 per month if they do not find employment within six months, will be given for 24 months during which time the unemployed will have to find employment before it is stopped.

Additionally, he said that roughly 2.5 lakh open positions in government agencies will be filled gradually. The execution of five poll guarantees would cost the government Rs 59,000 crore annually, thus it cannot be done all at once. The administration is thus under a little bit more pressure this year, but the pledges will undoubtedly be carried out.

Siddaramaiah questioned the moral propriety of the BJP, which has threatened to protest the government and demand the fulfillment of election assurances, asking: “Have they carried out the election promises made in the manifesto while in power?”

“Mr. Yediyurappa (former CM) should disclose how many promises were fulfilled under his and former CM Basavaraj Bommai’s administrations. If they are devoted to the cause of the poor, they shouldn’t engage in political stunts; instead, they should get rice from the Center, which engages in hate speech, he added.
