Kharge’s ‘ek akela’ jab at the BJP and PM Modi about the suspension of 141 MPs: ‘Single party’

The BJP currently has no opposition in either the Rajya Sabha or the Lok Sabha after the suspension of 141 MPs for disruptive conduct. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who was also suspended from the Rajya Sabha, tweeted on Wednesday that the prime minister and the BJP intend to create “single party rule” of this nature. They discuss Ek Akela, which is comparable to destroying democracy. By suspending the opposition MPs, they have effectively accomplished this. Kharge commented, “Instead of holding those in high positions accountable for this heinous security breach, they have stolen the democratic rights of MOs. The head of the Congress questioned why Ptarap Simha, a BJP MP who “facilitated the entry of the intruders,” had not been taken into custody yet. “Apparently the intruders have been planning this for months, who is responsible for this massive intelligence failure?” Kharge enquired.

On December 13, the anniversary of the assault on the Parliament building in 2001, two men leaped from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha and sprayed yellow smoke from canisters they had hidden beneath their shoes. They were then allowed to enter the new Parliament building as guests. Two more were discovered demonstrating in front of Parliament. As the inquiry led the police to a well-thought-out plot that had been in the works for at least 1.5 years, the four were taken into custody and harsh anti-terror legislation was applied to them. The opposition leaders asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to comment on the parliamentary security violation. Amid this demand, 141 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs have spoken out.

“Why aren’t top security officials in charge of Parliament held accountable? By now, heads ought to have rolled in. It seems that the trespassers have been preparing for this for some months. Who is accountable for this significant breakdown in intelligence? How could two trespassers penetrate the Parliament and almost make it to the center of India’s democracy, concealing yellow gas canisters in their shoes, considering the multi-layered security of the building?” stated Kharge.
