Landslide Hits Gypsum Mine in Ramban, J&K, Causing Two Injuries

Two workers at a gypsum mine in the Ramban area of Jammu and Kashmir were gravely hurt on Sunday after they were buried in a landslide, according to police authorities.

A JCB machine operator and a dumper driver were trapped after a landslide hit the mine in the Haroog region of Dharamkund, 26 kilometers from the Ramban district office, according to the authorities.

They said that the police, the State Disaster Response Force, and neighborhood volunteers initiated a rescue effort right once and managed to free the earthmover’s drivers, Ajaz Ahmed of Bhathan-Ghandri Ramban and Anil Singh of Dhar Road Udhampur.

The two were hospitalized after sustaining several wounds, according to the authorities.
