Manipur Assembly launches the National e-Vidhan Application, taking it digital

The National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) was introduced by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday in the state Assembly with the goal of assisting it in “becoming more transparent, accessible, accountable and effective in promoting democracy.”

He said at the NeVA’s inception that the project’s goals were to enable paperless assemblies and make government more open, responsible, transparent, and capable of advancing democracy.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction, the Chief Minister said that the goal of NeVA is to turn India into “a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”.

The legislatures “have been transformed into Digital Houses,” he said, adding that this will be “beneficial to the environment and the economy.”

Additionally, he said that NeVA is one of the 44 mission mode initiatives that the Indian government has chosen in order to support a paperless Assembly.

He remarked, “Now, legislatures have been transformed into Digital Houses,” and he added that the environment and economy will benefit from this.

He stated, “Now, e-Assembly service is a prerequisite for e-democracy, a stage where ICT (Information and Communication Technology) forms an integral part of democratic expression,” and that by uniting all of the nation’s legislatures on a single platform, it will serve as a significant platform for the nation’s unity.

On Wednesday, the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly will convene its fifth session.
