March 23–March 31, 3-day Sujanpur Holi festival

Speaking to authorities at a meeting for the event’s preparations held here today, Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh said that the three-day state-level Sujanpur Holi Festival will be organized starting on March 23. He said that customary fairs and festivals should be observed with zeal and vigor as they serve as ambassadors of the rich cultural legacy.

Maharaja Sansar Chand Katoch, who governed the region for many years in the 18th century, founded the celebration. Generation after generation continued the ritual even after Himachal Pradesh was formed. Later on, Holi was elevated to a state-level celebration from a district-level celebration.

The DC said that a number of cultural and sporting events would be planned, and the celebration would begin with a customary prayer at the Murali Manohar temple.

Additionally, a variety of management committees were established to ensure the event was successfully run. These committees would see to it that the Mela Ground had a sufficient quantity of water, power, transportation, decorations, and kiosks for sale.

Local folk musicians would take precedence during the cultural nights, according to the DC. Participants at the meeting were ADC Manesh Yadav, SP Padam Chand, Sujanpur SDM Raj Kumar, Hamirpur SDM Maneesh Soni, and representatives from several departments.
