Project Tricity Metro

All parties involved, including Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, agreed to implement a two-coach metro system in the Tricity based on recommendations from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The planned RITES adjustments, which included connecting Zirakpur to Panchkula via the proposed Metro corridor two and aligning the proposed Metro corridor one near the railway station, were also, in theory, accepted by all stakeholders.

RITES Ltd. was given the task of conducting research for the creation of an alternative analysis report and a thorough project report for the first phase of Tricity’s MRTS network.

The first phase of the corridors consists of the following routes: 32.20 km with 26 stations from Paroul (New Chandigarh) to Sector 28, Panchkula; 36.4 km with 29 stations from Sukhna Lake to ISBT Zirakpur via Airport; and 13.8 km from Sector 39 to Transport Light Chowk via Tribune Chowk.
