MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, claims that the BJP is attempting to divide people by mistiming the CAA

Chief Minister MK Stalin said on Monday that people would give the saffron party a suitable lesson and accused the union government of using religious sensitivities to push the “divisive” Citizenship Amendment Act for political advantage.

Stalin said, “Union BJP Government’s divisive agenda has weaponized the Citizenship Act, turning it from a beacon of humanity to a tool of discrimination based on religion and race through the enactment of #CAA,” in a post on platform X shortly after the union government announced the rules for the implementation of the law. They planted the seeds of discord by betraying Tamils in Sri Lanka and Muslims. With the help of the BJP’s proxy AIADMK, the #CAA was enacted in spite of strong resistance from democratic forces like the DMK. The BJP put the Act in cold storage because they were afraid of public outrage.

“We passed a resolution in #TNLA urging the union government to repeal the #CAA to safeguard the unity of our nation, uphold social harmony, and protect the ideal of secularism enshrined in our constitution,” he said, restating the DMK’s opposition to the Act.

Stalin made fun of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attempt to “salvage his sinking ship by cynically resurrect” the CAA by using religious feelings for political benefit, pointing out that elections are soon.

He expressed confidence in the nation’s opposition to the Act and said that the BJP will never be forgiven for “unleashing this divisive Act.” CPI state secretary R Mutharasan denounced the union government’s action in a news release, calling it a ploy to deflect focus from problems facing the poor and stir up religious feelings for political purposes.
