Mumbai News: Five Women Arrested for Locking the Doors of the CSMT-Bound Local Train’s Ladies’ Compartment at Badlapur Station

Mumbai: Within a day of receiving information about a suspected door lock case in a women’s compartment of the Karjat CSMT commuter train, Central Railways’ Railway Protection Force (RPF) effectively detained five female passengers.

The incident at Badlapur Platform 3, on December 12, 2023, resulted in the train being delayed for around ten minutes since the final women’s carriage was still closed. Following complaints about the obstruction, an inquiry was conducted, and the five people who caused the incident were found.

“A team of dedicated Women RPF constables boarded the same coach the Wednesday, conducting a thorough inquiry that resulted in the identification of the five women primarily involved in the case” according to an official.

Named Accused

“The ladies passengers were identified as Shelu natives Neelam Ashok Kadam, Preeti Shah Bahadur Yadav, Pranali S. Kamble, Puja Milind Pagare, and Karjat native Rekha Sanjay Bhagat. “All five were brought before the Railways Court without delay, and they acknowledged their guilt,” the speaker said.

The Railway Judicial Magistrate acted quickly, fining each lady Rs 200 and issuing a strong warning not to engage in such activities going forward.

Authorities are keeping a careful eye on passenger behavior using cutting-edge CCTV surveillance so they can quickly handle any abnormalities. A representative underlined the dedication to swiftly resolving such concerns and guaranteeing the effectiveness and safety of railroad operations.

“To prevent such occurrences in the future, the RPF is taking proactive measures by coordinating with Government Railway Police (GRP), ticket-checking staff, and local police” according to an official.
