NIA conducts a raid on a Lashkar-e-Taiba overground worker’s J-K residence in the Dhangri attack investigation

In connection with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) attack in Dhangri village of Rajouri district, which resulted in five civilian deaths and several serious injuries in January of this year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at the homes of several suspects on Saturday in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Five different places in the Gursai hamlet of Mendhar Tehsil in the Poonch district were the targets of the attacks.

The raids were carried out at the homes of Overground Workers (OGWs) connected to the LeT, a designated terrorist organization.

According to the NIA, a number of digital devices and papers holding evidence have been confiscated and are now being examined in an effort to elucidate the plot.

On August 31 of this year, the NIA detained two suspects in the case, Nisar Ahmed alias Haji Nisar and Mushtaq Hussain, who are now being held at Kot Bhalwal Central Jail in Jammu.

The NIA’s sweeping operations on Saturday were prompted by revelations made by these two individuals and information obtained by the agency.

According to NIA findings, both of the apprehended suspects were harboring the terrorists responsible for the horrific assault. “They had harbored the terrorists in a bunker that they had constructed and had given them logistical assistance for more than two months.

The NIA said that the pair had been acting under the orders of three LeT handlers with ties to Pakistan, Saifullah alias Sajid Jutt, Abu Qatal alias Qatal Sindhi, and Mohd. Qasim.

Under several provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Arms Act, the assault complaint was first filed at the Rajouri Police Station.

Further inquiries are being made by the NIA, which took control of the case on January 13 and reregistered it.
