Notes from the campus: Former HAU VC awarded

Hisar: On February 22, the Entomological Society of India in Bengaluru presented Dr. KS Khokhar with a lifetime achievement award in appreciation of his contributions to the discipline. Dr. Khokhar, a former vice-chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University (HAU), Hisar, received recognition for his significant contributions to research, teaching, and technology transfer concerning the control of pests and insects in home, fruit, and forest trees as well as field crops. In addition, Dr. Khokhar held positions as vice-chancellor at HAU for more than seven years and assistant director general of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for eight years.

Voting workshop

Yamunanagar: A one-day training was arranged on campus by the Mukand Lal National College’s Electoral Literacy Club. “Sensitization of Voter and the Value of Voting in Democracy” was the workshop’s theme. City Magistrate Piyush Gupta was the main guest of the first session. During the ceremony was Naib Tehsildar (Election) Gulshan Sharma as well. The primary guest’s speech came after the inaugural one, which was delivered by officiating principal Ritu Kumar. Piyush Gupta discussed the significance of casting a ballot. In the second session, Dr. Virender Singh Dhillon, an associate professor at Maharaja Agrasen College in Jagadhri, taught the students about their right to vote and the need of voter sensitization.

The 7-day NSS camp comes to an end.

Karnal: Vinayak College in Kachhwa village had a grand celebration to mark the end of the special camp run by the NSS unit of Guru Nanak Khalsa College. In his speech to the students, former principal Dr. Major Singh urged them to adopt an optimistic outlook in order to accomplish their objectives. He implored them to honor their instructors and parents. Students were advised to work with discipline and determination by Principal Gurinder Singh.
