On the Ramesh Bidhuri Disput, Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, a former leader of the Congress, charged the BJP on Sunday of using its MPs Ramesh Bidhuri and Nishikant Dubey to stir up controversy in an effort to divert attention away from the caste census proposal.

The Congressman said that the BJP wins elections by “distracting” and preventing us from crafting our story while addressing at a colloquium here.

He said that Congress is likely winning Telangana, was definitely winning Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and was very near to winning Rajasthan.

He said, “That is what BJP is also internally stating.

Rahul Gandhi remarked at ‘The Conclave 2023’ hosted by Pratidin Media Network and posted by the grand old party on its official X feed, “We learned a very important lesson in Karnataka, and the lesson was that the BJP wins elections by distracting and not allowing us to construct our narrative.”

And so, in Karnataka, we fought the election in a manner that made it impossible for the BJP to control the narrative. The BJP is using what you are witnessing today, Bidhuri, and then all of a sudden, Nishikant Dubey, to divert attention away from the concept of the caste census. They are unable to engage in dialogue despite knowing that the caste census is something that the majority of Indians desire. So we know how to respond whenever they raise a subject to divert our attention, he added.

“We’ve figured out how to handle it. We provided a clear vision for Karnataka, and now we are in charge of the story. We now control the narrative, regardless of what the BJP tries to do,” he remarked.

This week’s dispute began when BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri abused and disparaged Bahujan Samaj Party MP Kunwar Danish Ali on the House floor.

Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal, the party’s general secretary, paid a visit to the BSP leader and offered their support.

Additionally, he said that the BJP “put in thousands of crores of rupees” to dominate the narrative during the Bharat Jodo Yatra but was unable to do so. The Congress, he claimed, is in charge of the narrative in the states where elections are scheduled for later this year.

60% of Indians are in the opposition, and he said, “BJP is in for a surprise in 2024.”

Later this year, there will be elections for state legislatures in Mizoram, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
