Pehowa’s Chaitra Chaudas festival begins on April 6

The Saraswati Tirtha in Pehowa, Kurukshetra district, will host the three-day Chaitra Chaudas festival from April 6 to 8.

During the Chaitra Chaudas fair, a significant number of devotees go from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh to Pehowa to offer prayers to their ancestors.

In order to make sure that all departments coordinated their efforts and finished the preparations on schedule, a combined meeting of all departments was conducted on Monday. The district administration has begun preparing for the three-day fair. Aman Kumar, the Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM)-turned-fair administrator for Pehowa, stated that orders had been sent to inspect CCTV cameras to make sure all of them were operational and that those that weren’t were replaced. The Engineering and Public Health Departments have been instructed to create temporary restrooms and make sure there is water available. It has been requested that the Saraswati Tirtha pond’s water be drained and replaced with new water by the irrigation department.

Similarly, directives have been sent to the Tehsildar, the Municipal Committee, the Health Department, the Fire Department, the Roads Department, and the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN). According to the SDM, the fair space would be split up into several sectors, and five police checkpoints would be set up on Ambala Road, Guhla-Pehowa Road, Kaithal Road, Galerva Road, and Kurukshetra Road in order to ensure security.

“Police officers have been requested to make sure that all of the checking is done in one location and that the worshippers are not stopped to check at many locations. The first goal is ensuring the safety of devotees, and Aman Kumar said that a significant police presence, dressed in uniform and civil attire, would be present at the fair to ensure that naughty people acting in the persona of devotees do not cause disturbances.

According to Dr. Vaishali Sharma, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) for Kurukshetra, “This year the fair will be organized from April 6 to 8 for which the preparations have begun.” It is anticipated that during the three-day event, thousands of devotees from various states would arrive. All department officials gathered for a meeting, and instructions were given to them on how to make sure all the preparations are finished on schedule. To handle all preparations, sector officials and duty magistrates have been assigned.

“Everyone will not experience any inconvenience, it is guaranteed. The area around Saraswati Tirtha will be closely monitored with the use of CCTV cameras. The sector supervisors and duty magistrates will take care of the power, sanitization, and other preparations,” she said.
