PM Modi opens the Haryana segment of the Dwarka Expressway

A major development in India’s transportation network, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Dwarka Expressway’s 19-kilometer elevated portion. The road, which has eight lanes and a number of cutting-edge technologies to improve connection and traffic efficiency, is the widest to be built on a single pier.

The route would link directly between the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the Gurugram Bypass, cutting down on the 20-minute trip between Dwarka and Gurgaon. The Dwarka Expressway’s Gurgaon segment is estimated to have cost Rs 4,100 crore.

“The Dwarka Expressway’s Haryana Section will be inaugurated,” wrote PM Modi on X. These initiatives are consistent with our plans to construct next-generation infrastructure and will accelerate economic development.

Delhi and Gurugram are connected by the recently built Dwarka Expressway. It is split into four parts, the first two of which are in Delhi and the third and fourth of which are in Gurugram, with a construction cost of ₹9,000 crore. The road is a national first as it is grade-separated, fully access-controlled, and has fourteen lanes. It starts in Shiv Murti, which is close to Mahipalpur, and ends at Kherki Daula, which is close to the national highway. It is around 29 kilometers long.

There will be an interchange with two underpasses and an elevated corridor near the start of the Dwarka Expressway. In the Delhi NCR area, where over 3 lakh cars travel via NH 48 every day, according to official statistics, the expressway intends to limit vehicular pollution, reduce traffic congestion, and reduce productivity losses caused by traffic bottlenecks.
