Principal Defendant Arrested in Ferozepur Sacrilege Case

Jarnail Singh, who participated in the Saturday lynching of Bakshish Singh, the alleged sacrilege, was taken into custody by the police today.

A cross-FIR had previously been filed by the police against Jarnail and a few other people based on the deceased’s father, Lakhwinder Singh’s, allegation. According to reports, Jarnail was in charge of the enraged crowd that beat Bakshish after he tore pages out of the Guru Granth Sahib at the Gurdwara located in this district’s Bandala hamlet. Jarnail was reportedly previously booked in an NDPS case at Arifke in 2019.

Lakhwinder had said that since Bakshish was a student at the institution, he had been receiving therapy for his mental health issues. The accused’s relatives had requested action.
