Rahul Gandhi Promotes #Gintikaro in X Bio To Strengthen ‘Caste Census’ Campaign; Congress Leaders Will Follow Suit

The Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, boosted the party’s “caste census” campaign ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on Monday by adding #Gintikaro to his profile on the microblogging platform, X (previously Twitter).

As part of a bigger “caste census” push, all Congress leaders and supporters are reportedly planning to add the same to their profiles. Additionally, the party has organized a number of grassroots events.

A national caste census is the subject of a campaign film called “Ginti Karo,” which was launched by the Congress on Sunday and stars Rahul Gandhi. Gandhi posted the one-minute, 53-second film, “Gine nahi jaoge to sune nahi jaoge, Isliye bohot hui ginti ab INDIA karega vinti,” on the social networking site X. The caption reads, “If you don’t count, you won’t be heard! Thus, “Enough requested; India will now count.”

Rahul Gandhi emphasized his party’s intention to carry out a caste census on Saturday, saying that the 50% quota ceiling will be “uprooted” in light of this correct move and economic mapping. Gandhi said that “count” is the Congress’ catchphrase since it will be the first step in achieving justice.

The former president of the Congress said, “Have we ever wondered who is poor? ” in a post in Hindi on X. What condition are they in and how many are there? Does counting all of this not make sense? According to Gandhi, a caste census carried out in Bihar found that 88 percent of the impoverished population is from Dalit, tribal, backward, and minority populations. “We don’t even know what conditions the country’s impoverished population is living in; the figures from Bihar are just a small glimpse of the real picture,” he added.

“That is the reason we are going to uproot the 50% reservation limit on the basis of two historic steps: caste census and economic mapping,” he said. According to Gandhi, this action would “x-ray” the nation and provide everyone with the proper rights, reservations, and shares.

“By doing this, we will not only be able to create appropriate policies and plans for the impoverished but also save them from the hardships of education, employment, and healthcare and bring them into the mainstream of development,” the Congress leader said. “Therefore, rise up and assert your rights; the caste census will lead you from the shadows of hardship to the light,” he said.

A thorough socioeconomic caste census, according to Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh, would assist the administration in comprehending the many facets pertaining to the populace. According to Ramesh, this would make every family’s financial situation transparent since data on assets, debt load, land, and income would be accessible.

“The nation’s current caste system will be revealed. Which group is wealthy and which is experiencing deprivation will be revealed,” he said. The national and state governments have used data on economic deprivation from the 2011 socio-economic caste census for various objectives, ranging from identifying MNREGA recipients to food security beneficiaries.
