Rajnath tells French CEOs that co-producing defense equipment in India is a good idea

Rajnath Singh, the Indian defense minister, made a strong impression on the CEOs of the leading French defense firms by outlining the benefits of co-development and co-production of defense equipment in India, including the potential for exports to other nations.

He highlighted the inherent benefits of the Indian market, such as a large, professional HR base, world-class infrastructure, and a solid legal framework, during a conference in Paris last night.

In addition, Mr. Singh, who is on the second leg of a two-nation European visit, had the 5th Annual Defence Dialogue with Mr. Sebastien Lecornu, France’s Minister of Defense. The two ministers spoke on a variety of issues, with an emphasis on strengthening defense industrial cooperation, including the assessment of regional circumstances and ongoing military-to-military engagements.

The two ministers went through current defense initiatives and spoke about measures to strengthen cooperation between the two nations’ defense industry. They also spoke about future joint ventures in specialized fields including cyber, artificial intelligence, and space. A Guard of Honor at the French Ministry of Defense was held before to the conference.

Mr. Singh had earlier in the day visited the Safran Engine Division’s R&D facility in Gennevilliers, which is close to Paris, and had seen the most recent advancements in aero-engine technology.

He met with Guido Crosetto, the Italian defense minister, in Rome on the first part of his two-nation visit. Following the discussions, a contract was signed to advance bilateral cooperation in a variety of defense-related fields, including security and defense policy, R&D, military education, maritime domain awareness, sharing of defense information, and industrial cooperation, including co-development, co-production, and joint venture formation.
