Residents on the Rohtak-Sonepat route are incensed due to sewage

Sewage has been covering a section of the Rohtak-Sonepat road on the outskirts of Rohtak city for about a month.

Bohar Village’s affected homeowners and business owners are inconvenienced not only by the obstructed path in front of their homes and establishments but also by the stench coming from the slush.

“It is very challenging to constantly smell bad and go through the filthy water. We have voiced our concerns to the relevant authorities, but to no effect,” said shopkeeper Sunil.

A number of other villagers repeated what Sunil had said. According to Jai Bhagwan, a former municipal councilor for the ward, “residents are living in a miserable condition as the entry to their premises is covered by wastewater and there is an unbearable stink round the clock.”

He said that the community lacked a sewage infrastructure and that an open nullah was used to dispose of wastewater.

The issue has become worse since the contractor hired to level and restore the nullah abandoned the project in the middle of it. I have brought this to the attention of the relevant authorities, and they have promised that the necessary action would be taken,” he said. The local municipal corporation is in charge of the village.

The Public Health and Engineering Department’s Superintending Engineer, RK Sharma, promised to investigate the issue and urge the relevant authorities to find a solution.

The Municipal Corporation is in charge of the region. But I’ll get the issue looked at and take the necessary steps as soon as possible on my end,” he said.
