Rs. 25k honorarium for Odisha’s Padma winners

State-wide Padma recipients will henceforth get a monthly stipend of Rs 25,000. The state administration made this announcement on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the chief minister’s office, the skill and dedication of Padma recipients has enhanced the state’s grandeur. It also said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has chosen to give them an honorarium of Rs 25,000 per month in appreciation of their significant contributions to society. One Bharat Ratna VV Giri, four Padma Vibhushan Sudarshan Sahoo, Raghunath Mohapatra, Sitakant Mahapatra, and Kelucharan Mohapatra, eleven Padma Bhushan, and ninety Padma Shri recipients are now recognized in Odisha.

In a related move, the government increased junior teachers’ monthly pay from Rs 13,800 to Rs 20,000. The pay increase will be retroactively implemented on January 1, 2023. According to a CMO announcement, the government has chosen to pay junior teachers—those who have served in designated jobs for three years—Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 13,800 per month, in response to their varied requests. Junior teachers are employed in elementary and upper primary schools across the state. This will help 12,784 assistant teachers.
