Sharad Pawar tells the Centre: Make a decision on women’s reservations before UCC

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), told reporters on Thursday in Pune that the Central Government should offer women reservations before considering the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

“Recently, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the Uniform Civil Code,” remarked Sharad Pawar. According to UCC, the Law Commission was handed this problem by the Central government and asked for suggestions from a number of institutions. “The Commission has currently received 900 proposals. Since they didn’t make it public, I have no clue what is said in those plans. Sharad Pawar said, “Law Commissions, like responsible institutions, should research and implement the plan or advice offered to them.

He said, “The viewpoint of the Sikh, Jain, and Christian communities should be clarified in UCC. One thing worries me; I’ve heard the Sikh community has a different stance. Although I am still gathering information, I have heard that the Sikh community is opposed to UCC. This community’s position cannot be disregarded.
Sharad Pawar, the head of the NCP, said at a news conference on Thursday that the party will only clarify its position after taking all of these aspects into account.

He said that the NCP’s national leaders met on Wednesday in Delhi.
There was also a gathering of the women’s and youth wings. The meeting’s final report will be released in a few days.
“Four sessions conducted in Delhi included some recommendations and debates. UCC was one of the subjects that was discussed. We would investigate the law commission and other UCC-related issues, but the central government must decide to provide women a quota first, as I did when I was the chief minister of Maharashtra, Pawar said.

We provided women with 33% of the available seats in different Zilla Parishad, Mahanagar Palika, Nagar Palika, and Gramme Panchayat bodies, among others. Later increased it to 50%. We saw progress in a number of companies and institutions as a consequence. The federal government need to provide women reservations in light of this, according to the NCP Chief.
“We would support these actions if they were taken by the PM Modi administration. In fact, I’ll work to get backing from other parties as well,” he tacked on.

“I feel that this is an attempt to divert the people’s attention from the current state of the nation and the dissatisfaction among the populace with the current government,” stated Pawar. It seems that the PM has felt the unease and resentment of the populace.
