Shimla ward watch in Krishna Nagar: This is an arduous job getting patients to the hospital

Despite possessing a road, the Krishna Nagar ward of the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) is inaccessible to ambulance services, so residents there are prepared for the worst in the event of a medical emergency. According to the locals, the relevant authorities do not think the route is suitable for ambulance service. As a consequence, in an emergency, patients must be transported to hospitals.

According to Rajinder, a resident of Krishna Nagar, ambulance drivers would rather wait at Cart Road than come here. “Taking a patient to the hospital in an emergency is quite challenging. It is sometimes necessary to carry a patient up steep roads, which is quite inconvenient for everyone, he noted.

The issue of stray dogs is another difficulty the ward faces. Children are said to be particularly afraid since they are the most susceptible to dog attacks, according to the locals. Local resident Raj Kumar said that nighttime commuters were inconvenienced by the majority of the ward’s broken lamps. “A streetlight is hanging dangerously at one place,” he observed. The Tribune was informed by Krishna Nagar Councillor Bittu Kumar that the ward’s very steep road made it exceedingly difficult for cars to navigate. He said that HRTC cabs shouldn’t be operating on the very crowded route.

Regarding the problem of the ward’s lack of cleanliness, he said that while cleaning campaigns and rubbish collection were conducted on a regular basis, the Municipal Corporation’s cleaner shortage was impacting the job.

“The Municipal Corporation’s monthly meeting addressed the issue of the cleaning staff shortage, but no constructive outcome was achieved,” he said.

The council member reported that the ward was getting new streetlights installed.
