Shivraj Singh Chouhan declares, “We’re not going away,” as female supporters get emotional

Upon visiting his old Lok Sabha seat of Vidisha, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was swarmed by ladies who sobbed and gave him hugs.

While he was traveling to a well-known Hanuman temple in Vidisha, some 55 km from Bhopal, on Thursday, Chouhan, who had resigned as the chief minister of the state MP earlier this week, became upset and was seen to have tears in his eyes. Women surrounded him and shouted praises in his direction.

The ladies gave him hugs and called him “Mama” (their maternal uncle) and “Bhaiyya” (brother). He should return as the CM, they said. A tearful former chief minister also announced to them that he was staying in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh conducted elections on November 17 and declared the results on December 3. With a landslide victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 163 of the 230 seats in the state. On December 13, Mohan Yadav, a three-time MLA from Ujjain’s temple town, was sworn in as the state’s new chief minister.
As deputy chief ministers, Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda took the oath of office. Narendra Singh Tomar, a former union minister, will preside over the assembly.

Madhya Pradesh is poised to emulate the national leadership style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I am devoted to advancing the state and realizing the dreams of the millions of Madhya Pradesh residents since I am from the country of King Vikramaditya. After taking office as chief minister, Mohan Yadav said to ANI, “We will witness the same good governance that existed during the rule of King Vikramaditya.”
