Telangana: Imampeta schoolchildren return as the dorm building is closed by officials

Imampeta Social Welfare Residential institution/Junior College administration is acting to allay students’ fears and promote their return to the institution. Counseling sessions have been offered to the students as part of these efforts, and the hostel building—which includes the dormitory where an Intermediate second-year student committed suicide on February 10—has been temporarily locked to allay the students’ fears.

This project was prompted by the terrible suicides of two Dalit girls, which terrified the kids and prevented them from going to school.

At now, the school’s administration and classrooms have been transformed into overnight hostels. According to Regional Coordinator Arunajyoti, this facility has restrooms in addition to dressing rooms, thus female students won’t have any issues. By Monday night, she said, one hundred pupils were back, and on Tuesday, twenty-three more had enrolled.

According to staff members, 60 additional Class X students are anticipated to return, while 80 Intermediate students have already returned. However, in the wake of two students’ suicide deaths within ten days, some parents are reluctant to take their kids to school. A Class X student who showed up to class on Tuesday was questioned by TNIE, and she said that she started studying again for her exams when the administration offered dorm accommodations inside the school.

Another student’s father, Narsaiah, said that they live three kilometers away from Imampeta and would prefer that their daughter attend as a day scholar.

In light of impending examinations, the RCO emphasized their continued efforts to persuade parents to bring their kids to school and college on a regular basis.

Suryapeta: On Tuesday, BRS MLC Kavitha urged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy promptly evaluate residential schools and social welfare hostels and implement stringent suicide prevention measures. She went to Bhurkacharla in Mote mandal and met Asmita’s mother. Recently, in Hyderabad, a class 10 student of Imampet Gurukula School committed suicide. Bollam Mallaiah Yadav, the former MLA, and MP Lingaiah Yadav accompanied Kavitha. She asked the administration to address the problem of female students’ deaths in the state seriously, saying it was a reason for alarm. “There is a lack of supervision in the hostels and no minister for the departments of social welfare and education.” It is important to designate psychologists and create a welcoming environment in the hostels. She asked the parents not to overburden their children with stress before tests.
