Sibal’s jab at the BJP as the AIADMK leaves the NDA: “BJP is Like the Camel in the Tent”

On Tuesday, Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal attacked the BJP for the AIADMK’s decision to leave the National Democratic Alliance, claiming that another ally had defected and those who remained were in “opportunistic alliances with no ideological glue.”

The AIADMK said on Monday that it was leaving the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and that it will head a new front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, breaking its four-year relationship with the BJP.

A high-level meeting at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai, presided over by party leader Edappadi K Palaniswami, decided to leave the NDA.

Sibal wrote on X, “AIADMK leaves NDA. Another ally turns against them! Pawar & Shinde in Maharashtra and coalitions in the North East are examples of opportunistic partnerships without ideological cohesion that are still with them. He compared the BJP to the “camel in the tent.”

Sibal, a Union minister under UPA I and II, left the Congress in May of last year and received support from the Samajwadi Party to be elected as an Independent to the Rajya Sabha.

He has put out the non-electoral platform “Insaaf,” which aims to combat injustice.
