Six individuals from Sadhguru’s Isha foundation have been absent since 2016; TN Police notifies Madras High Court of this

Since 2016, six individuals from the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore—established by Jagadish “Jaggi” Vasudev, sometimes referred to as Sadhguru—have vanished from sight; the Tamil Nadu Police notified the Madras High Court of this, according to Bar and Bench.

The police presented their oral arguments to a bench consisting of Justices MS Ramesh and Sunder Mohan.

According to police, an investigation into the missing cases is already underway.

Police were instructed by the Bench on Thursday to provide a progress report on the investigation by April 18. On that day, the issue will be heard.

A habeas corpus petition to produce his brother Ganesan was being heard by the court from a person named Thirumalai.

Following reports that his 46-year-old brother Ganeshan vanished from the Isha Foundation in March of last year, Thirumalai filed an application with the court.

He told the court that when he couldn’t get in touch with his brother for a few days, he reached out to the ISHA foundation. The Foundation informed him that Ganeshan, an employee of the ashram, had not shown up for work in two days after he got in touch with them.

They filed a case and sought the court at Thirumalai’s request.

Located close to Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, the nonprofit Isha Foundation is a spiritual organization that is “almost entirely” administered by volunteers. It was established in 1992.

The headquarters of the Isha Foundation are located at an ashram close to the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, on the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains, some 40 kilometers from Coimbatore.

Nonetheless, there have been repeated claims that the foundation broke laws and regulations while building the Isha Yoga Center. This has prompted criticism from local indigenous people and environmental groups who are fighting the ashram’s growth.
