‘Subhas Chandra Bose Was First PM’: Kangana Ranaut’s comment has angered several

Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), K.T. Ramarao, attacked Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the Lok Sabha elections on Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi seat, on Friday. The reason behind her attack was a video that went viral, in which Ranaut referred to revered freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose as the nation’s “first Prime Minister.” As he mocked the “Manikarnika” actor, the BRS leader questioned, “Where these people graduate from?”

The KTR-led party’s national vice president, KTR, criticized Kangana on the microblogging platform ‘X’ by asking: “A North American BJP candidate claims that Subhas Chandra Bose was our first prime minister! Mahatma Gandhi was our Prime Minister, claims a different BJP politician from the South! Where were all these individuals graduates?”

Kangana Ranaut’s controversial interview
The actor-turned-politician caused a stir when she made an astonishing comment about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in a televised appearance, referring to him as India’s first prime minister.

“Tell me one thing, when we got independence, where did India’s first PM Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose go?” she had said.

Many opposition lawmakers made fun of Kangana shortly after the video went viral, with Congresswoman Supriya Shrinate teasing her by stating, “Don’t take her lightly—she will go ahead in the list of BJP leaders.”

When Kangana Ranaut said that India really became independent after Narendra Modi became prime minister in 2014, she also stirred much controversy at the time.

Kangana Ranaut was just revealed as one of the 111 candidates the BJP has nominated for the Lok Sabha elections on March 24.

She proudly announced her membership in the BJP on Instagram, expressing her support for PM Modi and the party.”Today, the national leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared that I will be their candidate for the Lok Sabha from my hometown of Mandi (constituency), in Himachal Pradesh. I have always supported Bharat and Bhartiya Janta and her party without reservation.
