Teachers at DU request that NBT reinstate the book store at the metro station

In a letter to the NBT director, the Delhi University Teachers community requested the reopening of an ancient book shop located at the Vishwavidyalaya metro station.

The book shop, which had been closed for the previous two to three months, was very well-liked by varsity students.

The letter said, “Are you aware that for many years, teachers, researchers, and students at Delhi University as well as metro commuters enjoyed frequent visits from the small NBT book store at the Vishwavidyalaya metro station?”

“However, we are shocked to discover that this bookshop has remained closed for the past two to three months,” the letter said. The University community and other commuters would be saddened by this, as the NBT has been a significant national publishing company.

“We on behalf of the University community request you to reopen this book shop in the interest of readers and the Delhi University community,” said Nandita Narain, President of DTF, in the interim.

“Steep mindless commercialization of all possible spaces will create spaces devoid of flavor and culture,” says Democratic Teachers’ Front Secretary Abha Dev Habib.

Habib went on, “It will be tragic to lose yet another bookstore—a bookstore that is so easily accessible to educators, students, and commuters. The setting of NBT Bookstore was appropriate for a university campus.
