Teenage girl in Amreli, Gujarat, passes away after apparent heart arrest as she enters the test room

Just before going into an exam room on Friday, a 15-year-old girl in the Gujarati town of Amreli went into “suspected” cardiac arrest, according to a story published in the Times of India (ToI).

Sakshi Rajosara, a ninth-grader from Jasdon Taluka in Rajkot, passed out unexpectedly in the morning in a Shantaba Gajera school classroom. She was unresponsive when taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Her corpse has been submitted for a postmortem examination, according to the ToI report.

Heart-related fatalities have been reported in Gujarat recently; they have included occurrences that happened during ‘garba’ festivities, which are part of the Navratri celebrations. As a result, according to news agency PTI, state health minister Rushikesh Patel called a conference of doctors, particularly cardiologists, to discuss the problem. In order to determine the reasons of these fatalities and possible treatments, Patel requested the specialists to collect data on them.

Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union health minister, earlier on Sunday cited research from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stating that people who have had a severe case of COVID-19 in the past should abstain from excessive physical exertion for a year or two, including running, intense workouts, and strenuous exercises.

“The ICMR has conducted an extensive study,” Mandaviya said. This research suggests that people with severe COVID-19 infections shouldn’t push themselves too much. For a brief period of time, perhaps a year or two, they should refrain from intense workouts, jogging, and severe activities in order to prevent heart attacks.”

Anandiben Patel, the former chief minister of Gujarat and governor of Uttar Pradesh, also voiced her worries about the matter during a recent visit to the area.
