The Common Man is drowning in a political cesspool as a result of the Delhi Flood Issue

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) politicians are blaming the excessive water release from the Hathnikund barrage in Haryana for the Delhi flood, but the government is disputing this, arguing that the barrage has its own ability to halt water and is not a dam.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, said on Thursday that there isn’t a reservoir where water can be kept upstream, therefore it needs to be released. The CM remarked, “It seems that water may start diminishing by this evening.

Despite the fact that there hasn’t been any rain in Delhi this week, the Yamuna has flooded numerous low-lying districts of the national capital, including the Ring Road between ITO and ISBT Kashmiri Gate.

The Delhi chief minister is quoting a letter he sent to Amit Shah, the home minister, on Wednesday, in which he demanded that water be released from the Hathnikund barrage at a “slow pace” because doing otherwise would put Delhi in danger. Kejriwal has also asked the Centre to take action, blaming the flood in Delhi on the “abnormally high volumes of water” being released in Haryana at the Hathnikund barrage.

The Hathnikund barrage is not a dam and as such has little ability to halt the water flow; yet, the Center is using it, as Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Shekhawat has pointed out. Over the last two days, the barrage’s output has grown, especially on Thursday, when it went from 1.56 lakh cusecs at midnight to 1.63 lakh cusecs by 9 am.

Shekhawat’s ministry’s Central Water Commission has further noted that the Hathnikund barrage has “limited storage” and that more water must be released downstream during significant inflows brought on by intense rains in the upstream districts. However, according to the Commission, today’s peak flow would reach its peak by 10 am and begin to decline by 2 pm.

Manohar Lal Kattar, the chief minister of Haryana, has also criticized Delhi, claiming that the latter was not telling the truth to the people. Amit Malviya, a BJP politician, blamed the Delhi floods on the Kejriwal administration. claiming there hasn’t been any dredging in the Yamuna since Kejriwal became CM and that the sewage pipes haven’t been desilted in eight years.

Kapil Mishra, another BJP MP, criticized the AAP’s strategy of blaming the Centre, warning that blocking the Hathnikund Barrage might result in deadly floods in Punjab and Haryana.

Another senior BJP politician told News18 that because of the high rains in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, the Centre has no choice but to release water from the Hathnikund barrage.

“In fact, the Delhi government should have been better prepared on the front of evacuations, knowing this was (water discharge) was an inevitability,” the BJP leader added. However, the AAP is emphasizing the fact that its leaders and MLAs have been on the ground over the last two days, removing people and animals from low-lying regions.

The Delhi CM has been conducting evaluations by himself.

Gautam Gambhir, a member of the Delhi BJP, tweeted, “Wake up Delhiites. Delhi is become a wasteland. This is the cost; nothing is given away for free. The AAP-BJP conflict in Delhi has a new chapter thanks to the flood.
