The Delhi government would provide Atishi financial and revenue responsibilities

After lieutenant governor VK Saxena approved a proposal made by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for a portfolio reshuffle in his cabinet, Delhi minister Atishi is expected to be given the additional portfolios of finance, planning, and revenue, officials in the LG office aware of the development said on Thursday.

A notice will be sent before the portfolio change takes effect.

The Aam Aadmi Party administration and the LG office got into another argument after the shuffle; Delhi government officials claimed that the case was still open with Saxena, but the LG’s office refuted the assertion.

After former deputy chief Manish Sisodia and former health minister Satyendar Jain submitted their resignations after their incarceration, Atishi was appointed to the Delhi cabinet in March. On June 1, the Kalkaji lawmaker received responsibility for the department of public relations. She also has the responsibilities for electricity, education, and tourism.

The current finance and revenue ministries are held by Minister Kailash Gahlot, while the development ministry is held by Minister Gopal Rai. Atishi will now be in control of 12 departments thanks to the inclusion of the portfolios for finances, planning, and revenue.

An official at the LG office said that since Thursday was a holiday, a notice on the cabinet reshuffle could only be made on Friday.

In response, a representative of the Delhi administration said that Saxena had been waiting on the portfolio rearrangement file for the previous four days.

The person who was mentioned above, who represents the LG office, denied the assertion and said that “The LG received the file on Tuesday and approved the portfolio reshuffle on Wednesday.”

The Delhi government representative, however, said that as of Thursday, the LG had not yet approved the file. This is to make it clear that the cabinet reshuffle plan has not yet received any clearance from the LG. The LG office must provide a copy of the order or any other relevant documentation to verify its false assertions, the official added, if it still intends to stick by them.
