The evidence—where is it? An Indian ambassador alleges that a senior Canadian diplomat was harmed. Nijjar inquiry

Sanjay Kumar Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Canada, has said that the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder inquiry has been compromised by orders from above. The Indian Envoy further said in an interview with The Globe that Ottawa’s allegation that Indian operatives were complicit in the death of Nijjar was unsupported by any hard proof from Canada.

“In this case, there isn’t any specific or pertinent information that we can use to help them with their investigation,” Verma said.

“Where is the proof located? Where is the investigation’s conclusion? To go it one step further, I would argue that the probe has already been compromised. Someone in a position of authority has given the order to claim that India or Indian agents are responsible.

In June of this year, two masked gunmen assassinated Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, in the parking lot of a Gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia. New Delhi classified Nijjar as a terrorist in 2020.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada said that the assassination of the Khalistani terrorist was carried out by operatives of the Indian government.

Without any solid proof, Trudeau’s accusations sparked a major diplomatic spat between Canada and India, leading to the expulsion of each nation’s station intelligence heads.

Additionally, India halted the issuance of visas to people of Canada and used the parity clause to demand that Ottawa remove 41 of its diplomats. Last month, Canada called them back.
