The Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX took off

Another testament to India’s success in producing its own satellites for the commercial market is the launch of an Indian-assembled spacecraft into orbit by Space X, a satellite communications business founded by tech billionaire Elon Musk.

The successful deployment of TASL’s TSAT-1A satellite aboard the Bandwagon-1 mission into space was announced by Satellogic Inc. (SATL), a company that works in sub-meter resolution Earth Observation (EO) data collection from Uruguay, and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), which has its headquarters in Hyderabad and works in the aerospace and defense solutions domain.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket carried out the mission’s launch on Sunday from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.

In the Vemagal facility in Kolar, Karnataka, TASL’s Assembly, Integration and Testing unit has assembled the TSAT-1A. The satellite’s multispectral and hyperspectral capabilities will enable it to produce high-resolution optical satellite pictures with greater dynamic range, collecting capacity, and low latency. The government and business sectors stand to gain greatly from this technical breakthrough as well, as it will enable customized satellite data for a range of uses.

The company’s managing director and chief executive officer, Sukaran Singh, said, “This milestone demonstrates TASL’s commitment to the space sector.” This is the first move. We were able to produce a best-in-class sub-meter optical satellite that was launched by SpaceX, constructed and tested in India thanks to our collaboration with Satellogic.
